Cybercrime continue to grow despite security measures | #infosec #hackers #Facebook

Cybercrime on social networks continues to climb despite increased privacy and security measures, according to a study by Webroot Research.

In the UK, the number of social networkers who experienced attacks on social networks grew from 6 percent in 2009 to 12 percent in 2010 to 15 percent this year. Friend in distress scams grew from 2 percent in 2009 to 14 percent in the US; in the UK these scams increased from 6 percent in 2009 to 11 percent. Between 2009 and this year, the number of US social networkers who have never viewed or changed their privacy settings falled from 37 percent in 2009 to 8 percent. In the UK the percentage dropped from 31 percent in 2009 to 9 percent.
